CIVIL PROCESS DIVISION

The timely and effective service of criminal and civil warrants throughout the county is one of the primary responsibilities of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Currently, there are more than 9,000 active warrants in Putnam County, Tennessee, so it is easy to see why this division of the Sheriff’s Office is one of the busiest and most demanding places to serve. The Sheriff’s Office handles almost all of the warrant service for the entire county, traveling down dirt roads and across creeks, fields and streams to apprehend subjects. They often coordinate with other police agencies within the county and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, working tirelessly to track down and apprehend subjects. When serving high risk warrants, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team may be called in to assist. The Sheriff’s Office also maintains two full-time Civil Service Processors in order to serve all of the civil warrants in the county.
